We are delighted to celebrate the successful completion of Bradby’s Bright Futures Project, which has brought our outdoor Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) back to life and means it can once again be enjoyed all year round.
Sport is a hugely important part of the work we do with young people at The Bradby Club. Our outdoor MUGA is a fantastic asset and provides something that sets Bradby apart from many other youth services. It gives young people a safe, accessible space to be active, socialise, develop new skills and simply have fun.
Unfortunately, for more than 18 months, use of the MUGA had been limited to the summer months after the old, inefficient halogen floodlights were condemned. This meant that a valuable facility was sitting unused for much of the year, particularly during the autumn and winter when young people most need somewhere positive to go.
Thanks to financial support from the FCC Communities Fund and Rugby Round Table 113, we have been able to change that.
Working with RM Services (Yorkshire) Ltd, we designed and installed a modern, efficient LED lighting system that has transformed the facility. The new lighting provides improved illumination while being significantly more energy efficient, allowing the MUGA to be used safely and effectively throughout the year.
The MUGA is free for young people attending Bradby’s projects and services, as well as young people from the local community, providing an accessible space for sport and recreation.
The facility is also available to hire by local community groups, sports teams and other organisations outside of Bradby’s own projects and services. Income generated through external hire helps The Bradby Club continue to provide opportunities, activities and support for local young people.
This project is about much more than new lights. It means young people once again have access to a valuable outdoor space where they can be active, build confidence, develop friendships and take part in positive activities throughout the year.
We are incredibly grateful to FCC Communities Fund, Rugby Round Table 113 and RM Services (Yorkshire) Ltd, as well as everyone else who has helped, supported and contributed to bringing this project to fruition.
The Bradby MUGA is bright again – just like the futures of the young people we serve.
