Off-site residentials and trips

September 10, 2014

Emma, has attended the Bradby Club since she was 8yrs old, her connection with the club comes from other family members that have attended the club over the years. The Bradby Club serves an area which has high levels of deprivation and so the young people are often at risk and disadvantaged. Emma used to attend the club regularly taking part in sporting activities or hanging with friends. The Bradby Club also provided informal education around sexual health and Relationships and drugs and alcohol awareness to Emma and her Friends.

As Emma grew up she started to attend the open youth session less frequently, however still was very much involved in the activities, residentials and challenges, Emma was youngest person to ever complete Clubs For Young People’s annual 100 mile canoe test, and has recently been involved in the challenge again 2012. In 2013 she also completed our senior members training at Outward Bound in Aberdovey and took part in canal trips and other activities. Due to relationships and stability of the Bradby Club like a lot of the senior members Emma keeps in contact and regularly pops in to say hello and is still keen to be involved in any outdoor activities.

These trips and residential opportunities have broadened Emma’s horizons, challenged her and given her the focus to reach her true potential. The skills and achievements gained through these has moulded her future by setting solid foundations of determination, team work and leadership which she carries with her into all aspects of her life.
