The Bradby Club continues to offer young people with voluntary open access youth club sessions. These sessions are delivered 4 nights a week for young people aged between 8 years and 25 years.
Monday: Senior Youth Club (School year 7 and above) 5:30 till 8:00
Tuesday: Young Carers (ages 8+) 4:00 till 6:00
Wednesday: Senior Youth Club (Year 7 and above) 7:00 till 9:00
Thursday: Junior Youth Club (School year 5 up to 7) 5:00 till 7:30
The evening youth club sessions allow young people to attend the club giving them somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Because of the voluntary nature of this service we try to keep it current and up to date in order to keep young people engaged in the club. Young people can come here to chill out and socialise with friends but there are also a number of activities that young people can get involved in including; sports, art and crafts, cooking, music, computers and much more. Cooking and food in general is very popular with our young people and so we quite often cook up a big pot of food that is served to all the members, there is also a tuck shop open at certain times throughout each of the sessions. Young people are actively encouraged to participate in the decisions that are being made at the club as each of these decisions will affect them. As such their views are always gained to ensure that this service remains young person focused and led.
Underneath the surface there is a lot more to these open access sessions than meets the eye. All these activities are tools allowing the staff and volunteers to build good working relationships with young people and enabling us to positively influence their behaviour. It also gives young people the confidence they need to trust and talk to us if there is ever a problem in their lives and we always try to support and empower young people to get through these. Additionally, incorporated into all the youth club sessions is issue based informal education on a variety of topics to support young people around the issues that most affect them.
